Farm to Table Goodness

Farm to Table Goodness

I was so excited to put this event together for everyone.  And to think, it all started because someone said, “We need to get together sometime soon.”  This is what happens because my brain thinks “go big, or go home.” haha!!  It was an amazing night, and we all had so much fun! Thank you to the Page’s, the Henderson’s, the Daros’, the Levesque’s, and the Matson’s for being so awesome! Love you all!  Also, a big thank you to Woody Aborn for letting us use your vintage tractor! Below is the article that I wrote for Mingle magazine.  Kasey of Kasey Matson Photography took these stunning photos!   I am always longing for when I can get a break from work to spend time with family, and friends;  to just reconnect, and have some fun.   My inspiration for throwing this party was to simply share in some good times with friends over an amazing meal, and to incorporate things from around the house to create a rustic haven in our back yard.  For this gathering my goal was to highlight the use of items from around the house to create a visual just as amazing as renting loads of items.   I always say, personalization is number one in any event.  While it might be more time consuming, it is usually more cost effective.  This gathering was about more than just friends getting together.  It was about making a connection between the farm and the table, reconnecting with the land while sharing the experience with our friends.  I live with my husband and two sons on a farm where we...

Jocelyn & Dan had such an amazing wedding day at the farm that Dan’s family owns in Northwest Corner of Connecticut. All family members were very involved with making table numbers, cutting wood for ceremony pieces, making the birch chuppah, and making signage for the event.  The property is quite large so the signage was very important in letting guests know which direction to go.  The ceremony was in a beautiful meadow, that was specially cut out just for Jocelyn and Dan.  Then guests headed over to the pond for cocktail hour to enjoy drinks and the scenery. Next guests made their way up to the main tent that included classic blue checkered table cloths, accented with yellow, and white flowers.  The family togetherness was immensely impressive as everyone came together to incorporate their own meaningful way to share....

She is also one of my trusty assistants that works with me to set up weddings.  So she knew what she was up against with planning, and getting everything checked off the list. Suzanne and Dave have 6 children that they incorporated so perfectly into their ceremony. Their day was about joining two families into one amazing bond, while still showing each other all the love possible they have to give. We kept the palette simple, and timeless.  Baby’s breath, and soft baby green hydrangea would be the main players.  We layered in some mercury glass, and vintage touches with old shutters, and keys as escort cards.  We transformed the back deck with white fabric to soften the look of the awning poles. The best part was once the reception started I could finally relax and have fun!  It was a pleasure helping you along the way to bring together one of the best days of your lives! I wish you all the best! Enjoy a sample of the day from Andi, and some random instagram shots I took.   ...

The staff did beyond an amazing creating the tapas style, and keeping everything flowing on time and seamlessly. We created a soft and romantic feel within the grand building in quite a short amount of time, but I think it came out so perfect.  Guests loved the energy from Jeff, and they danced the night away. Irish Inspired Beauty

Irish Inspired Beauty

So it was November and I was already dreading going into the winter season.  I was looking forward to when it would be green, and colorful outside again.   I was starting to make birthday preparations (in true Michelle fashion 4 months early) for St. Patrick’s Day when my mind started wandering.  Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a wedding in Ireland, with all the green, and amazing stones, I thought to myself.  I went to search out on google “Irish Wedding”, and I didn’t come up with anything too exciting.   Then I thought why not create my own, and see what I can come up with!   Then I added some amazing people to the mix, and the gorgeousness below happened.  It was just how I pictured it…bright, whimsical, organic, vintage with a modern twist, and personal in every way.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all the amazing people that helped bring my idea to life, and run with it.  <3 Do not miss the amazingly gorgeous video from Keller at CaddyWhompus Productions.  Seriously….gorgeous!
